Acerca de este curso

This unit covers the standard phrases the pilot and the master use to exchange ship data on the bridge. It follows the IMO SMCP phrases for On-board Communications in three areas:

  • Engine and propellers — engine type, bridge control, response times, extra power, controllable or fixed pitch, right-hand or left-hand, single or twin propellers, thrusters and revolutions.
  • Manoeuvring data — pilot card, turning circle, crash-stop advance and transfer, rudder time, whistle control, notice for manoeuvring speed and automatic pilot.
  • Orders, speeds and radar — the pilot’s orders for whistle, speed and lookout, manoeuvring and sea speeds, radar status, antenna, blind sectors and range scale.
