UNIT 49 – SMCP: EVACUATION & BOAT DRILL

This unit covers the standard announcements used for evacuation, the boat drill and attending to passengers in an emergency. It follows the IMO SMCP phrases for Passenger Care in three areas:

• Assembly stations — the general emergency alarm, what to wear and take, escape routes, lifts and the abandon ship signal.
• Roll call and lifejackets — answering «Here», reporting a missing cabinmate, and putting on your lifejacket.
• Lifeboats and rescue — entering and behaving in the lifeboat, lookout, first aid, provisions, attracting attention, and informing passengers about the situation and rescue.
