UNIT 50 – SMCP: FINAL REVIEW & COURSE CONCLUSION

This final unit reviews the whole Maritime English and SMCP course and closes the program. It brings together the key phrases of all units in three areas:

• Course map — ship knowledge, SMCP foundations, key terms, VTS and pilotage, bridge and berthing, and cargo, fire and emergencies.
• Message markers — INSTRUCTION, ADVICE, WARNING, INFORMATION, QUESTION, ANSWER, REQUEST and INTENTION.
• Phraseology discipline — say again, mistake and correction, numbers digit by digit, UTC or local time, positions, units, avoiding ambiguous words, and repeating orders back.
